Default Controller goes crazy when try to play project 64

So I have this USB converter by Sumoto and it allows me to plug up one of my n64 controllers to it.... however when I go under the control panel and click game controllers and try and configure it and calibrate it... the axis x and z box goes crazy and the crosshairs flick all over the place...

This contributes to a bigger problem because I cannot then assign buttons to the controller when I am using project 64 and trying to configure the controller plugin...

I have used several people's suggestions about changing the deadzone at 0, and I have unchecked the Real N64 range box, as well as turned the analog stick range to 100%...

ANY SUGGESTIONS!!??? PLZZZ!???
