Default Anyone successfully used Netplay on Project64?

I followed the instructions at play64 and even a few youtube videos but i can't connect with my friends no matter who hosts the server. I even tried port forwarding to help (I think I port forwarded correctly?)

What could of happened?

The only ways how that I know are to use AQZ's input plugin to work around the lack of an implementation of Kaillera etc., or to use a downstream fork of Project64 that supports NetPlay (usually the 1.4 thing hotquik did that hot-quicks a quick but fairly broken Kaillera in it).

I never used AQZ's plugin. I think I tried it once when I still had my Windows desktop machine. I was behind quite a restricted network connection with whitelists and blacklists for MAC addresses, and I think I might have needed to forward a port to ever get AQZ's plugin to work. Sadly I don't even know what a port is (let alone what a router is). The only port-forwarding I know how to do is when I buy a pint of organic raspberry sorbet for 5 bucks and then I eat the whole thing.

Anyone else have better luck? I would really like to play Mario Party and maybe Goldeneye with a friend.

I think Project64k is your best bet, or any other with kailera support. I tried AQZ plugin, and I always get an issue where like, say in Goldeneye, I'm walking down a pathway, and on their screen, I'm walking directly into a wall! Desync issues left and right!
