Default Donkey kong 64 cheat completely stuffed my saved game

I was playing donkey kong 64 with pj64 and i got to a particularly hard boss so I decided to cheat and used one of the ready made cheats. I finished the boss then came back to play again later but when I loaded my game I had no water melons (life) at all and I couldn't pick up any items. The cheat I used was the infinite health one and I turned it off after.

PLEASE HELP ME FIND A SOLUTION

don't use cheats then. They tend to do that. Did you load with a save state?

Unfortunately this specific cheat affects both a save state and a native save, meaning the damage here is permanent. That walk through all doors cheat should never have been included with the emulator without a note specifically saying that this would happen, cause as far as I have found the effect is permanent.

Make sure to complain to Gent about that
It seems he's still the one officially in charge of PJ64 cheats.

Yeah heh, he's done quite a lot of work with the cheats support for all that time.

I'm not expecting too many changes about the 1.7 resource files (e.g. CHT / RDB) etc. at this point though, so I realize there's not much use complaining. As long as we don't activate cheats before making a save state backup at the very least we should be good to prevent this kind of thing.
