no, the folders are just for neatness sake.
you might need large address aware to patch pj64 to load the large packs.

I doubled checked to make sure everything is named and placed properly.... I tried patching pj64.exe with large address aware, and then with the NT 4g patcher. Neither of them worked. :-/
Is there a way to convert texture packs to DAT format? |

Hmm... just FYI I used textures pack for Super Mario 64 from http://www.emutalk.net/threads/47002...te-retexturing and it works on my Pj64 2.0 without any patches

I downloaded the texture pack that worked for you, to no avail. I got the same results: it seemingly reads only one of the textures and then loads the game without them. When I load the Zelda that I got working (with DAT files), it flies through multiple files before loading successfully.

I'll keep trying different things... It was actually a typo on that forum. I did have the folder named highres_texture. Thank for for helping me with this.

highres_texture is wrong... there's no "hiGH"

Well sorry for semi-hijacking the thread, but i have a problem which is on a similar line and may end up helping the OP problem aswell.
As i am unable to get textures to load in 2.0 aswell But i already know what im doing. I pretty much copied everything over from v1.6 (cache folder and glide64), and the settings are the same for the plugin ofcourse, and the cache folder is in the GFX directory. But the .dat files were created by pj64 v1.6 (as they were originally image texture packs, which after loading are cached into a .dat, and then i jsut deleted the image folders from the hires folder). And needless to say they worked fine on 1.6, but they dont seem to want to load on 2.0. It doesnt even try to load them at all. One thing i noticed earlier is you mentioned _MEMORYCACHE.dat _HIRESTEXTURES.dat well the only .dats that were created in 1.6 were _HIRESTEXTURES.dat So im wondering, does 2.0 handle texture caching differently or something (even tho i figured that would be handled by the video plugin) And just for trying purposes, i tried moving the glide64 plugins and the cache folder to the /plugins folder (its still able to detect the plugin there), and i also tried in the 1.6 plugins folder (again it was also able to load the plugin from there). But in /plugins /plugins/gfx and /plugins/1.6 plugins none loaded the textures. Ive tried with CRC on and off. also when the cache was made, i was NOT using any texture compression or cache compression (since i used LAA, it was able to fully load large textures to the memory, so i figured it would be a waste to compress them). And ofcourse i also have it still unchecked for texture compression in 2.0 and 1.6. So im wondering, is there something different in the way 2.0 needs to load textures then 1.6? As transferring the .dat cache between a v1.6 and another v1.6 seems to work fine. Also for the last thing, i did redownload an image texture pack, put it into hires_textures and it loaded just fine. After it cached the .dat into the cache folder (again only just the _HIRESTEXTURES.dat was stored in there), i tried to delete the image folder in the hires_texture folder, and it now no longer loads the texture. So that leads me to believe there is something wrong with v2.0 and loading .dat texture packs. This is also the same problem the OP is having, since i seen he said he download the texture pack as a .dat already. So i think you need to have the actual texture pack and the .dat (which is just the exact same images put into a single file), so for some reason to load textures you need to have them twice :3 Last edited by filenotfound; 5th April 2013 at 02:49 AM. |

I re-installed Project64 and the Glide64 plugin, and was delighted to find that it worked! Maybe I did name something improperly, but whatever the case- I'm elated. Thanks again for all your help guys!
