Default Paper Mario ROM Crashes

Hello Everyone Im Here Because I Have Serious Problems With A Paper Mario ROM i downloaded i start playing it and everything seemed ok until These Things Started:

1- There is a lot of flickering in the game its not much of an annoyance but it does make playing the game uncomfterble

Note: the flickering occurs more frequently in Toad Town And The Shooting Star Summit.

2-The Game Always Freezes When You Attempt To Level Up (This Can Make Clearing the game impossible without the use of Cheats.)

3- The Game Freezes When You Open Two Chests In The Boo Mansion (Chapter 3)

The First One Is The Chest that gives you The Jumping Boots
The Second One Is A Chest That Gives You A Weight.

4- If You Select The English Version of the game after the scene where Peach Says Goodbye To Twincle the Game Crashes With This Error: Cache: Failed to translate:20

Note: this doesn't happen In The Japanese Or PAL Version of the game.

I didn't expect the rom to play perfectly but not this bad Can Anyone Help?

Two plug-ins noted to fix the flickering issue are Glide64 and Rice's Video Plugin.
First try installing Glide64 to ($Project64)\Plugin.
http://glide64.emuxhaven.net/
From Options/Settings... you can change the graphics plug-in.

These three are issues in main memory emulation.
The level up one has been reported twice and verified as something internal needing a fix.

The other two you mentioned you might be able to fix yourself.
For me to be able to tell where a fix is for those two, I'll need to be able to access those parts of a game. Since I'm not familiar here, can you send me an instant save (save state) for those parts of the game before the crash happens?
To create save states hit F5 to write a *.PJ.ZIP file in ($Project64)\Save.
To upload and send them to me either attach in a post on this forum, or just use sites like filesend.net to give me a link.

Are you using any cheats? Cheating with the paper mario rom has been known to cause some issues.

If you are, turn them off and try reloading from a native save.

Also, follow the directions listed here to see if you have a good rom. It is possible that you have a bad one.

For the first chest, you have to make sure you do not crash down on the board until after you open the chest. I had no problem with the second chest. My suggestion is make sure that you do not do anything out of order in the way you should play the game (as if you had no cheats).

This is an easy fix. First of all: Use the cheats wisely and second of all use rise's plugin. I can't tell you which settings to use in there but if you fiddle around with it after a while it will clear the game up. If you have any other questions just ask. I know what you are talking about when you say that it freezes at the level up screen. You are trying to put infinite health on and probably some others too and putting on the quick level up cheat on as well. Just use quick level up if your going to cheat so when you max out your health then put on infinite health.

For the settings used by Rice's plug-in with this game these are the ones I deemed to work best when I tested in 2007.

Code:
{3ae5ee653c737ded-45}
Name=PAPER MARIO
AccurateTextureMapping=1
NormalAlphaBlender=1
NormalColorCombiner=1
RenderToTexture=3
ScreenUpdateSetting=4
If the CRC-## between the '{' and '}' is different (or the internal image name) it just means you have a different version of the game. Check the RiceVideo6.1.0.ini text file to ensure that this configuration is present, but adjust the first line if you don't have the (U) [!] version of the game.
