Default Project64 Aspect Ratio

I have version 1.6 and have an aspect ratio problem. I've been playing it in fullscreen at 4:3. But today, for some reason, it stretches out to fill my widescreen screen. But last week, it was showing the games in 4:3. I don't know what changed. Also, when I started a game, it no longer has the saved game info, letting me pick up where I left off. I don't know what's going on.

Is there any way to get it to show the games in 4:3 on my widescreen laptop ?

Make sure that, adjust aspect ratio to match your own is unchecked, and set the resolution to the maximum height of your monitor. On my laptop max res is 1366 x 768, so I set my resolution to 1024 x 768.
