Exclamation Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2 control issue (PLZ HELP)

so i downloaded a couple different versions of Pokemon stadium 1 and 2 just cuz it sounded fun. but i came across a problem that irritates me. all of the controls work except the arrow buttons. they dont work at all and therefore i cant navigate through the menus. is there a problem with my emulator or is it the games themselves? i play other game with no problems, such as Mario 64, Legend of Zelda: OoT, perfect Dark, and Yoshi Story. The arrow buttons work no problem with those games, but will not work for Pokemon Stadiums 1 and 2. Do I need a controller maybe? Please help me if possible.

Pokemon Stadium uses the D-Pad.

The d-pad I think is controlled by the numeric keypad by default.

Too bad there aren't any compatible plug-ins that kind of use an INI table to set maps per game, just controller profiles to manually switch between yourself. Till then I use the arrow keys for both analog and digital, but that's not consistently compatible either.

I once had a friend I would play these games with... When something didn't work, he didn't stop to think that maybe he was hitting the wrong button. He would just mash the current (the wrong) button until I yelled at him over his frustration to stop. He broke three and a half controllers that way. No offense to lefty here, but I wish people would try different things, at least that they know they can do, not like setting up mods or anything, before asking a question. But maybe it's just me.
