Exclamation N64 Controller and Adapter with Project 64

Hello. I have been having problems getting my original grey N64 controller to work with Project 64. I ordered the controller off of ebay a few days ago. The description said that the controller's stick was tight (which it is), and working just fine on a real N64. When it came, I plugged it into my Boom N64 and PSX USB adapter, and went into control panel, and calibrated it. After doing so, I tried setting the controls in project 64. I found that moving up, down or diagonally is impossible. Checking in control panel, I found that moving in those directions causes it to think I'm jerking the stick back and forth between that direction and back toward the center rapidly. Also, the Z rotation goes crazy. What's even stranger is that all the buttons work, and so does moving perfectly left or right.

I don't think the stick is broken. It only moves a tiny bit (like a 1 milometer radius) when the controller is shaken, so it most definitely not loose. Could this controller just not be compatible with this adapter (which is known to only work with specific controllers for some reason)? Would buying the Mayflash one work? I'm not sure what to do. Can someone please tell me what to do? How can I check to see if the controller isn't broken, and should I just buy a better, more reliable adapter if the problem is in fact the adapter?

For informations' sake I hope you remember that statistics show that Mayflash ones are *not* reliable.

But more reliable "than" ? ... whatever you have, I don't know. Everything I know about controllers, I know about keyboards used for emulation.

What different controller plugins have you tested?
Did you test both N-Rage 2.1 (you can use the older, quick 1.82 version bundled in the standard Project64 package) and Jabo's 1.6.1 (upgrade not included in the standard 1.6 package)?

More reliable than this product: ww(remove)w.eb(remove)ay.c(remove)om/itm/Boom-N64-PS2-gamepad-controller-USB-adapter-converter-/15067(remove)2789403 (It's in bold in the first paragraph)

The mayflash ones have much better ratings and reviews, and are said to actually work, unlike most of these. I have 1.6, so I tried the built in plugin. I can try other versions of N-Rage, but I'm wondering if this will actually do anything, as the analog stick's y axis is jerky even in the Windows Gamepad configuration menus. It's worth a shot though.

Really. That's interesting; most people here post issues with their device that turn out to be caused by the cheap Mayflash they purchased. But, I'm just going off of feedback I read here; I have no personal experience.

The N-Rage versions you want to test are 1.82/3 and 2.1 (or 2.3 latest beta if you're feeling bold / like installing a shit load of DirectX runtimes).

So I tried the different versions of N-Rage, and here's what I've found. The stick seems to be fine. I can get characters to walk forward and backward a bit... but the problem is it keeps inputting the opposite direction on the y axis every other millisecond. In ocarina of time, link can move, but his movement is stutters, and the action icon keeps flashing between attack and nothing because of the down inputs. I don't know why it is doing this. I can't tell if it is the adapter or controller.

Can someone else please help me? I have already taken apart the stick and cleaned it, but it still doesn't stop the controller from sending up or down inputs by itself. Should I just get a new controller?
