SM64: Last Impact - Best Performance?

SM64: Last Impact lags badly on some levels of the game. How do I reduce that lag? I use a Compaq Presario CQ70 laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit, a 2.4 GHz Intel Core2 Duo CPU, 3 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce 9200M GE graphics card.
