Road Rash 64 + GameShark = Black Screen

Does anyone know how to get the GS codes to work. No matter what the only code that works is max cash. I have even added other codes and versions of codes from the web and still just a black screen. I would like Infinite str, health, bike health. has anyone gotten the codes to work for Road Rash 64? Sorry if this isn't the right place for this.
