Hello guys,
I have a weird issue with Project64 2.3.2.202, all the games seems to stutter, they aren't smooth. The framerate is always 50 for PAL and 60 for NTSC, and I have no audio issue, but no matter what settings and plugins I use, I still have this weird stutter problem with all my games. I haven't played N64 for a while before today, I don't really know how it was before on the previous Project64 version. My PC is a i7-3770K on Windows 10 x64 with 64GB of RAM and 2x AMD HD7850. |

Enable advanced settings, right click ROM in list, select edit game settings, select Recompiler, uncheck Advanced block linking. Does it help?

Check your graphics display refresh rate. Make sure it's on 60Hz.
Try with Fixed audio timing turned off. |

Things to check are
PJ64 Counter Factor = 1 VI refresh rate: = 2200 (over clock) Audio timing Computer: Check Monitor hertz = 60 Check Vsync = ON Things to keep in mind are that PJ64 has a bit of a timing issue that still needs to be addressed. I tested the same setting across several emulators and made a video to show the difference in timing. All emulators shared the same settings where they could, and emulators such as libretro were to much of a hassle to confirm. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNJo_U8hc4A |

Sorry to revive this old post, I've been back to trying to make N64 emulation to work correctly on my gaming PC now that I formatted it, but I still get the same issue as before.
Actually I get this same issue on my 4 different PC (each has totally different specs/drivers/software, beside Win10 x64). I've been trying what you guys told me, and many other tests to no avail. I'm surprise nobody else mentioned it, but guess the stutter is a bit hard to see if you are not used to the real hardware or aren't sensitive to video stutter? To give more details about the actually issue; - it doesn't behave like a lag, it's more like frame skipping/hiccup for few seconds at a time. - it happens whatever the settings or plugins are, but only with project64. - Mupen64plus and retroarch (with both ParaLLEI and m64plus next) don't have any problem, everything is smooth on them. And of course real hardware doesn't have the issue either. - it's easier to see on high framerate games like F-Zero X, on fast camera motion on some parts of the tracks. It's really sad because beside this bug Project64 is clearly the best and most advanced emulator of all, so I would really love to see it fixed. Please tell me if you need video capture of the issue or more details. Thank you ![]() |

What video plugin are you using? Try jabo's video plugin and let me know if that has stuttering.

Thanks for your reply.
I actually found a way to fix the stutter, I just had to use GlideN64 4.0 (from the official Github). Both base and jabo's video plugins have the issue. So if anyone get the same problem, i recommend using GlideN64 plugin (plus it's the best video plugin so far). |

Hum... My idea is make all versions playable in new system, the X2 version for Linux dont work in the new system, in some time this will happen to all versions. :-/
Maybe make open source previous versions? From XTNF to X2, X3 in the future, maybe? |
