Default Texture Pack Creation Help Please!

Hey guys, stop arguing about the future of project 64 for a minute and help me out here please! Thnx I aprecciate it! Now I really wanna make some cool texture packs like the ones I have seen for LOZ OOT, and I know image editing and all that, and I know how to dump textures using Rice's plugin. Now what I need to know is what folder to put my images in and what labels they need to have and how to load them up in the emulator. Instructions for the latest release of 1.7 or the open release of 1.6 are fine, I have both. Thnx.

Currently you can only create a texture pack for one plugin or the other, but not both at the same time with one pack. So you have to decide if you're going to have one for Jabo's 1.7.x or Rice's public re-texturing plugin.

In your opinion which looks better and which is easier to implement?

Sometimes it depends on the game. Different plugins do different jobs of rendering the graphics in different games well.

Why are you asking about 1.7 though? You are not a beta tester?

Don't make me guilty. Anyways, I was thinking of making turok dinosaur hunter an avatar parody by making him blue and the levels look like pandora. And various other games (but not avatar.) Stupid but fun.

Once you've made the texture modifications yourself you just have to rename the texture files to a certain file name, depending on which video plugin you're designing the retextures to load on to.

At the moment though, 1.7 is not discussed in the public forum at least to people who don't have access. RiceVideo should be easy to work with though.

Gotcha. It's just that when I put the pictures, with the same file name mind you, into the hires_textures folder in the plugins folder of pj64 1.6, it still doesn't load. Nothing changes. Yet when I boot up LOZ OOT with a texture pack I didn't make in the same place, the textures boot. It's sorta frustrating. Thnx for trying to help though. I'll post if I fix the problem.

The readme info for renaming the textures on RiceVideo system is documented here.
