Default Issue with using 2 Xbox wired controllers

Hello,
We were playing Mario Kart last night. I have one wired, official Xbox one controller and a generic Xbox 360 wired controller. The 360 controller has an issue with button mapping changing after a race and some buttons, specifically z losing all function. The problem goes away if I tinker with the controller set up, but always comes back after one race. Usually, the settings have changed a little bit on their own.

I only download p64 last night so I'm not sure if this happens with other games.

I am not too technical with computers so I am not sure how to change drivers or what they are. Again, this only happens with the 2nd controller that is an xbox360 controller.

According to settings, N-Rage for PJ64 2.5.2.202 From doing more research, it may have to do with a cheat that fixed a speed issue, but I havent been able to test it yet

Yes, the controller will work to select a character, and may work completely at start, but then the button mapped for Z will stop working and sometimes the stick stops working as well. It has a tendency to stop working completely when going back to the menu, and controller 1 moves both character select boxes.

I havent noticed any issue like this with Super Smash Bros
